Using Garden Spray Recipes 101: Neem Oil, Peppermint Oil, Baking Soda & Hydrogen Peroxide Sprays Explained!

These are 4 sprays I use regularly in my garden and they have changed they way I grow. They are very effective when used the right way. The first rule of using sprays is to always to TEST SPRAY. That is on you. Spray some of the leaves of several plants and wait 48 hours to look for damage, when you use any spray be it a DIY recipe or purchased premixed spray. Many factors contribute to how plants react to sprays. You need to test them in your gardening zone.

The second rule is to keep a journal of when diseases, pests and problems show up in your garden. Use that information to start a pre-emptive or preventative spraying routine. Start spraying before the problems show up in your garden. If a problem comes 1 year, they typically show up the next year.

The video discusses the basic recipes I use for my Neem Oil, Peppermint & Rosemary Oil, Baking Soda and Hydrogen Peroxide (H202) sprays. The recipes are in a range. Start with the low end and increase the formulas if needed. Subscribe to my YT channel. I will doing a whole series on using sprays in the garden.

Each of these sprays have a different purpose and work differently. I explain this in detail in the video. In short: Neem Oil (100% Cold Pressed) is for chewing insects, Peppermint or Rosemary Oil is for repelling and scent masking and it  works well on spider mites, Baking Soda Spray changes the pH of leaves and is an effective anti-fungal and Hydrogen Peroxide is a leaf cleaner and disinfectant.

Whatever sprays you choose to use, make sure you know how they work and what they effectively treat. There is no single spray that does it all. I highly recommend using a journal to track garden problems, planting times and harvesting dates. That information will help you grow healthier future gardens.
